His father protected him from anything unpleasant. He did this because he didn't want him to become a religious leader. They had rode on chariot with guards.
When Sidd. was about twenty-nine he rode out without any guards. He came by four passing sights. Sidd. was shocked and horrified.

The protected prince searched for the truth. Sidd. Started to study with the Hindus gurus Ascetics. They taught him the cycle of salvation. Also they taught him self denial.
Sidd. renewed his search by sitting under a fig tree. Also he meditated for 49 days under the tree. He understood the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
He stays in India to teach other people in India about Buddaism. As he traveled across India, He attracted more followers who wanted to learn what Budda was teaching. He was asked many questions about who he was, and he answered with" I am awake".
