  • What stops apples from turning brown?

  •    3.Create a hypothesis
  • I think that that acidic juice will stop the apple from turning brown
  • The independent variable is the lemon juice. The dependent is the browning of the apple. The constant is the apple slices. The control is Veronica.
  •  4. Perform an experiment
  • Veronica wants to see if the acidic juice of a lemon affects the speed of a browning apple.She cut an apple into ten slices.  She put five slices into a bowl and poured 5 milliliters of lemon juice over them.  She put the other five slices into another bowl and did not add any lemon juice to them.  After one hour, the chef counted to number of apple slices in each bowl that had turned brown. 
  •   5. Analyze Data
  • The apple half stays fresh longer when lemon juice is applied, whereas it browns faster when it has nothing on it.
  •   6. Conclusion
  • My lemon hypothesis was right! The lemon did help.
