  • John Rolfe came to Jamestown with tobacco seeds to plant so the king of england would be happy with the riches they gained.
  • Economy
  • These cash crops are going to make england rich!
  • Jamestown was full of rich people who wouldn't work even while they were starving. When John Rolfe brought tobacco seeds, they brought in slaves to help do the work.
  • Social (freedom of religion)
  • *please bring us slaves to work for us!*

  • KIng James the third is to far away to solve their problems so they had to create their own government.
  • House of burgesses
  • Because our king is too far away to help with our problems quickly, we need our own laws
  • Jamestown was built on swampy soil which was great fo planting.

  • Why is it surprising that Jamestown was a success? It's surprising that Jamestown was a success is because no one wanted to work, they were starving and they had earned no money.
