Storyboard Text

  • And I was off! I sprinted as fast as I could, I was only a little bit ahead of Lu. I knew Brandon was behind me, but I didn't dare look back in fear of slowing down or tripping again. I could hear Patty cheering at the top of her lungs (which was making my ears bleed).
  • Suddenly it felt like my legs were about to fall off, and I started to slow down. That is when I saw Brandon start speeding up in front of me. This was my worst nightmare. I could not let BRANDON win. I just couldn't.
  • Then I remembered mom. I remembered how proud she was to see me in my uniform, about to run the race. I remembered King holding up the sign. I then pumped my legs harder than I ever had before, I even passed Lu!
  • I didn't stop. I couldn't stop! I just kept running until...until..I crossed the finish line! I won! I could hear everybody cheering. I couldn't tell apart everybody's cheers. Heck, I couldn't even hear a train horn.
  • I just stood there, panting, sweating, but smiling probably the biggest I had ever and will ever in my life. Then coach walked over to me."Good work, Ghost. Here you go." he said, then he handed me a giant trophy. "Thanks, Otis."
  • He laughed, patted me on the shoulder, and walked away. Then I saw my mom rushing over to me in tears."Oh baby, I am so proud of you." she told me in tears, than she gave me the biggest and tightest hug I had ever had., but I didn't mind. I felt all the black and red inside of me drift away.
