CONFLICT: The narrator and the old man lives in the same building. The narrator tells the readers that the eye looks like a vulture eye with a fil covering it.
RISING ACTION: Over the next eight days, the author plans to kill the old man because of his eye. Every night, the narrator goes to the old man's room.
CLIMAX: One evening, the old man screams. The narrator smothers the old man until he can no longer hear the old man's heart beat.
FALLING ACTION: The police arrived reporting that there was a scream. The narrator tried to cover him up by saying he was the one who screamed and the old man was out.
RESOLUTION: The story ends by the narrator confessing what he has done to the police because of a certain sound that he hears that he believes was the old man's heart.
