On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland. Germany had over more than 2000 tanks and 1000 planes. Three days later Britain and France declared war on Germany. This is important to World War II because this was the beginning of it.

Germany took over France and began taking more of Europe, so Britain retreated to Dunkirk where ships took them and rescued them and took them to safety. About 30,000 army men were saved making it known as the "the miracle of Dunkirk". This is important because 30,000 men lived to see another day.
Germany breaks the Nazi-Soviet pact when Hitler chose to Invade the Soviet Union. Hitler always had in mind to invade it, just did not know when. After Hitler wasted his resources he invaded the Soviet Union to get some back. This event is important because him breaking the Nazi-Soviet Union pact meant Stalin would join the War.
On December 7, 1941 Japanese airplanes struck and bombed the United States army base, Pearl Harbor. In response our president at the time was Roosevelt and he decided to declare war on Japan. During the time Germany and Italy decide to declare war on us. This is important because if it was not for the attack we would have never come to the alliance of Britain and the Soviet Union.
In 1944, the allies were ready to invade France. The allied forces battled by land into Germany in 1945.The Germans defeat seemed unbelievable. This event is important because it was one of the leading factors to Germany's defeat, if D-Day was not performed, the war would have continued.
