  • The Fredonian Rebellion was the first attempt of the Anglos to break away from Mexico. The declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Fredonian Rebellion near Nacogdoches.
  • Turtle Bayou Resolutions
  • 1832
  • Mier y Terán was sent to investigate Texas. He saw there was about 10 to 1 Anglos to Mexicans. Texas abolished slavery.
  • The Arrest of Stephen F. Austin
  • January 1834
  • Mexico made immigrating from the U. S.  illegal and encouraged European and Mexican settlers to settle in Texas.
  • Settlers in Turtle Bayou wrote the resolutions in pledge to their loyalty of Mexico. They also pledged their loyalty to Santa Anna.
  • Austin was arrested  at Saltillo on his way home from a meeting With Santa Anna. He felt that he betrayed the Mexican government.
