  • BIOGRAPHY OF GEORGE ORWELL
  • George Orwell was the pen name of an English writer Eric Blair. He was born in Motihari, Bengal in India in 1903. At the age of eight, he was sent to boarding school in England After winning a scholarship he was sent to Eton college where he studied from 1917 to 1921. He served in the Indian Imperial Burma for five years but soon resigned since the climate affected his health.He returned to Europe to pursue writing .He published a book in 1932 with the assumed name, George Blair
  • In 1949 Orwell published 1984 and also married Sonia Brownwell who was also born in India .On January 21st 1950 Orwell died of pulmonary tuberculosis
  • During travel he met and married Eileen O'Shaughnessy . around this time Orwell took offensive against elitism and tyranny and volunteer to fight in the Spanish civil war on the republican side.
  • In 1940 him and his wife moved to London where he worked as a reviewer.For world war two he rose to fight again but for England. IN 1945 his wife Eileen died. He also published Animal farm based on his experiences.
