Odysseus was worried because a thought of Circe came to his mind. He tied his cuirass and took two spears. Then he walked up to the fore deck. He thought that maybe he would be able to see her from there. He could not see her.
The Scylla vomited and the sea was like a cauldron over intense fire. The spume fell like rain. When the Scylla swallowed the water they saw the funnel of the maelstrom.
