  • Early 1800s and texas is still a part of Mexico which is actually a part of spain probably as no one lives there . In order to promote growth the spain government starts offering huge trates of land to impresarios or people that would bring settlers in 
  • In 1830 the mexican government officially shut down all immigration from the United states . Texas wanted to become independent so they were mad about the rule and this just made it worse because texans couldn't get their family over .
  • October 1835 Santa Ana had sent soldiers into texas to put down any rebels. The first fight was in the town of Gonzales where the mexican soldiers were suppost to take. As texas held cannon the texans mockingly adorned it withlag that said come and take it . While this was going on texan leaders were meeting in the town of washington on the Brazos where they drifted a new constituition and declared independence on March 2nd
