In 1953, the Cuban Revolution oficially began, and it would not end until 1959, after many lies in the media, passionately fought battles, and tradgic deaths.
The lower class of Cuban citizens decided they finally had it with Spain's rule...
and they would go to war for their independence.
Meanwhile in America, the government, and citizens, were worried about how close to their borders Spain was and saw this revolution as chance to drive Spain away.
The media gave false information to the public to encourage war with Spain, and it succeeded.
Let's go to war!!
The war ended December 10th, 1898, when the Treaty of Paris was signed.
As a result of this treaty, and the end to the war, Cuba gained its independence, and the U.S gained ownership of Guam and Puerto Rico from Spain
and the U.S became an imperialist country.
