Storyboard Text

  • 3. Sure thing!
  • 2. Just doing some sight seeing and going down memory lane Frederick, care to join me?
  • 1. Ah!  Mrs. Harriet Tubman, to what do I owe your company?
  • 1. This house looks just like my old master Thomas Auld's house, and there are hundreds just like it.
  • 2. Yes, hundreds of slaves were forced to work on plantations like these, it was awful
  • 2. It was just awful! They would either beat us to near death, or downright hang us!  I couldn't take it anymore!
  • 1.  On those camps we were forced to work with plants like you see here, and if we refused...
  • To escape, I used the under - ground railroad, a rumored route which I used to help free thousands of slaves.
  • As a matter of fact, I once helped work the under ground railroad, and it was what helped me become free!
  • 2.  These cries for change weren't met peacefully though, as the entire nation erupted into civil war! But then something great came out of it.
  • 1. That railroad inspired me and many others like David Walker and William Lloyd Garrison to speak out against slavery, making us inspire even more people!
  • 1. After the Civil War, president Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment which put an end to slavery!
  • 2. But it doesn't end here Douglas, as the current age is still facing racial prejudice even now.
