Jesse Jackson was born on October 8, 1941 in Greenville, South Carolina, He attended the University of Illinois for one year then transferred to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical College. Jesse Jackson was a civil rights leader. Jesse Jackson is married and has five children.
Jesse Jackson ran for president two times and lost both times but he was the first black american male to run for president. Jesse Jackson marched with Martin king jr, and was there when Martin king jr when he was assassinated. Jesse Jackson was incharge of the Operation Breadbasket. He was also in the SCLC and was in charge of monitoring companies’ treatment of African-Americans and he was even in charge of organizing boycotts of for hiring practices.
He was the first african american to run for presidential and he won 18 percent of the votes. When he ran for presidential he inspired other african american to run for political office. He will alway be reminder for his work in the civil right movements.
