Ammit had the head of a crocodile, the upper part of the body a lion, and the back part of the body a hippopotamus
The Process of Mummifying

They took the heart on a scale and measured it with a ostrich feather. if the heart ways more than the feather Ammit eats them.
The Egyptians like to have special amulets with them because they believed in the protective and regenerative powers the amulets had.
If it passes the scale it gets its heart back into its body, they fill it with salt and put it away then put it away.
The Egyptians also used them in both daily life and funerary rites.
