Storyboard Description

An (inaccurate) account of the impaired driving bill becoming a law.

Storyboard Text

  • As a concerning relationship, one of the hundreds across Canada, unfolds...
  • To stop these age differences in relationships all over the country, we should create a law!
  • We can start the process, but it isn't that simple!
  • The bill reads: "Any person in an intimate relationship should be no more than 2 years older than their partner."
  • First, we need to make the first bill, and have the "first reading". No actual debate or voting happens yet.
  • The bill reads: "Any person in an intimate relationship should be no more than 2 years older than their partner."
  • Next, we read the bill a second time, and this time we have a debate and change it.
  • We should also add an exception: When both partners are above 18, this restriction should not apply.
  • The bill reads: "Any person in an intimate relationship, except one where both partners are over age 18, should be no more than 2 years older than their partner.
  • I can agree with that.
  • 18 sounds fairly young... I say we change that age to 21.
  • Taking place after the second reading is the Committee. Here, the bill is studied closely in a hearing that may be open to the public. The bill is once again changed and improved.
  • For our Third Reading, and vote:  "Any person in an intimate relationship, except for those where both partners are above age 21, should be no more than 2 years older than their partner. All those in favour?
  • I am in favour!
  • As am I!
