  • The most well-known commander of the British Troops was George Washington of Virginia. He started the fighting at Fort Necessity in 1754. George was captured briefly and then released.

  • In 1759, the British defeated France and captured Quebec. Generals Wolfe & Montcalm were killed in this conflict. Both countries had Native Americans and African slaves on their side. The Native Americans favored the French over the British.
  • The Treaty of Paris of 1763 slowed the French in the America and India. This caused major damage to the French's hold on other countries.
  • Millions of people died in the several battles of the French and Indian War. The British national debt became 75 million pounds.

  • The British Imposed unfair taxes on the American colonies
  • The French destroyed Fort Duquesne. The British under James Wolfe achieved victory when they scaled the cliffs over Quebec. Richard Montgomery took Montreal, without opposition. Montgomery's victory owed its success to Ethan Allen's defeat at the hand of Guy Carleton at Montreal on September 24, 1775.
