In 1759, the British defeated France and captured Quebec. Generals Wolfe & Montcalm were killed in this conflict. Both countries had Native Americans and African slaves on their side. The Native Americans favored the French over the British.

The French destroyed Fort Duquesne. The British under James Wolfe achieved victory when they scaled the cliffs over Quebec. Richard Montgomery took Montreal, without opposition. Montgomery's victory owed its success to Ethan Allen's defeat at the hand of Guy Carleton at Montreal on September 24, 1775.
