  • What is a byte? A byte is a unit of data that is 8 bits long. A bit is the smallest unit of data in a computer and is represented by single binary values like 0 or 1.
  • Number of bytes these following units have & examples of file type or data measured in these units:
  • Kilobytes 1 Kilobyte = About 1,000 bytes Example: An email without images is about 2 KB Megabytes 1 Megabyte = About 1,000,000 bytes Example: An MP3 audio is about 1 MB per minute
  • Gigabytes 1 Gigabyte = About 1,000,000,000 bytes Example: A DVD disk has a capacity of 2.7 GB (single layer) Terabytes 1 Terabyte: = About 1,000,000,000,000 bytes Example: A Hard Disk
