Storyboard Text

  • "While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping"
  • "And the silked, sad, uncertain rusting of each purple curtain Thrilled me-- filled me with fantastic terrors i've never felt before"
  • "And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, 'Lenore'"
  • Lenore?!
  • He heard a sound like something tapping on his window. He didn't know it something was there or if he was just hearing things.
  • "Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter In there stepped a saintly days of yore."
  • It thrilled him because he thought it was someone he had been missing but he was filled with terror because he felt like it might not be her.
  • "Other friends have flown before--On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
  • He was trying to call for her before he looked. That way he'd know if he'd be disappointed or or if it was really her.
  • "Thy God hath lent thee--by these angels he hath sent thee respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!"
  • He flung open the window and he saw a raven perched up on a statue looking in through the window.
  • He's trying not to get attached because when he has gotten attached everyone he cared about left him. Since they left him his hopes have left him as well. He thinks since everyone else has left him, the bird will too.
  • He feels that God has sent this Raven to heal him of his own sorrows of Lenore. He thinks God can see him hurting and feel this pain he has, so he sent him the raven to forget the pain and Lenore.
