Railroads & Farming
Since cutting fences started to become a issue, they banned fence cutting illegal. Also, every 3 miles, there had to be a fence. In addition, the law banned people from fencing land they did not own or lease.
Oil field workers often lived in tents or wooden shacks. Oil fields were dangerous, crowded, and dirty. When it rained, the streets became rivers of mud. Also. some activities here can lead to dangerous violence, such as gambling, and drinking.
Some of them pushed for improvement in the hours, wages, and working conditions of laborers. Their decline was, Labor unrest continued until Governor, John Ireland sent the state militia and Texas Rangers to restore order.
