Storyboard Text

  • Siddhartha Gautama, was born around 567 B.C.E.
  • He grew up in princely luxury, shielded from the outside world, instructed by brahmins, and trained in archery, swordsmanship, wrestling, swimming, and running.
  • Once he was of age, Gautama married Gopa and had a son. However, he did not feel complete so he left the safety of his palace to see the world.
  • On his journey, Gautama saw three things: a sick man, an old man and a deceased man. After seeing this, he returned to his palace. He later left the palace in search for a life free of suffering
  • He learned how to discipline his mind to enter the sphere of nothingness as well as how to enter the concentration of mind which is neither consciousness nor unconsciousness
  • 6 years later, Siddhartha bathed in the Niranjana River and went to the Bodhi Tree, where he achieved enlightenment and became Buddha.
