  • “The first man had his three wishes, Yes.  I don’t know what the first two were, but the third was for death. That’s how I got the paw.”

  • Sergeant Major Morris enters White home

  • If you must wish, wish for something sensible...
  • "He began to talk, the little family circle regarding with eager interest this visitor from distant parts, as he squared his broad shoulders in the chair and spoke of wild scenes and doughty deeds; of wars and plagues and strange peoples."
  • Scene 5
  • I wish for two hundred pounds!

  • Well, I don't see the money, and I bet I never shall.
  • "Her husband drew the talisman from his pocket, and then all three burst into laughter as the sergeant-major, with a look of alarm on his face, caught him by the arm.       “If you must wish,” he said gruffly, “wish for something sensible.”
  •    “I wish for two hundred pounds,” said the old man distinctly. 
  •  “Well, I don’t see the money,” said his son, as he picked it up and placed it on the table, “and I bet I never shall.”
