Storyboard Text

  • The North and South began to resent each other after the disagreement on slavery. They drew out the inevitability of war as long as possible with things like the Compromise of 1820. In the end, after South Carolina seceded, the war began.
  • After South Carolina seceded the U.S charged Fort Sumter to claim it as the United States property. The South Carolinians ought back as a way to show they believed in themselves and their cause. More states began to seceded as a way to support their cause
  • The soldiers conditions were less that up to par. They were barely fed adequately with usually nothing more than crackers called hardtacks. Many soldiers died of starvation.
  • The whole country was torn apart into two different nation with no regard for the others troops and their lives. The amount of U.S people that were killed in a matter of four years is an extremely disappointing ratio. The war forced the North and South further apart than anyone ever expected
  • After the Confederacy had a huge loss, General Robert E. Lee met Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant at the Appomattox Courthouse and signed a peace treaty between the Confederate States of America and the United States of America.
