Storyboard Text

  • Black Wooden Box = darkness/death The box is like the looming feel of death that selects someone at random to die.
  • "She picked up a rock a rock so big, she had to use two hands." This shows that this women wanted a big rock to make sure it would hurt Mrs. Hutchinson.
  • The boys made a big pile of stones near the square.(Foreshadowing) This foreshadows that the rocks will be used later on in the story.
  • Human nature can be savage if it needs to be. The tone seems pretty civilized but the way they "reward" the winner is pretty savage.
  • "She was in the center of the square, holding out her hands desperately." This shows that Mrs.Hutchinson was trying to beg for her life by appealing to the town.
  • The Stones = Hatred or Violence Depending on the weight or the size of the stones someone picks up, shows how much the person wants to hurt the person selected from the lottery.
