  • Land Ordinance of 1785
  • Americans Moved In
  •  The Summer of 1794
  • The Land Ordinance of 1785 allowed Americans to settle in new regions invading the Native Americans.
  • To Protect the Innocent
  • The Americans started to move into the Native Americans region. This caused more fights than normal between the two.
  •  The Battle of Timbers
  • Indians around the U.S. rallied around Indian chiefs Little Turtle and Blue Jacket to try to force American settlers from their lands.
  • Colonist's Victory
  • George Washington heard of these Indians, sending a military force led by Anthony Wayne to protect the people of the Northwest Territory.
  • After many small battles, It all came down to one fight, The Battle of Timbers. This battle occured on August 20, 1794 and was the end of the Natives and the Americans fighting. 
  • The Colonists won and because of the battle George Washington made units to stay in these areas to protect the people from attacks.
