Storyboard Text

  • No Cap, I need to find the mass of hydrogen in water when I know how to find the mass of the water.
  • Hey Arrow are you ok?
  • Hahaha! Well you use a mole then Arrow.
  • What's a mole? Like the animal that lives in the ground?
  • Well the term mole was created by a German chemist named Wilhelm Ostwald. It is based on Avogadro's number 6.02x1023.
  • Oswald first introduced the mole in 1827. Avogadro is credited to the discovery.
  • A mole is a unit of measurement used to convert between mass, atoms, and liters.
  • You use it by multiplying or dividing the number of moles of an element to the other units.
  • Cap, I don't understand your nerd talk can you just show me how to do it?
  • Cap, I don't understand your nerd talk can you just show me how to do it?
  • Ok, Arrow, I'll give you an example.
  • You see you just use it to convert the units. Do you get it now?
  • 2H2 + O2 =2H2O 5 mol H2      2 mol H20   18g H20                                                            =90g H20                         2 mol H2      1 mol
  •
