Hello I am James Madison, I am here to tell you about causes of the war, Destruction of Washington, Bombardment of Fort McHenry, and Battle of New Orleans.
The causes of the War of 1812 are 4 main causes. The first being British impressment, second being British alliances with natives from the NW territory. The 3rd cause being the Leopard Affair. The last cause was the War hawks.
The Destruction of Washington was when British troops attacked Washington D.C. and burned down it's capital.
The Bombardment of Fort McHenry was British War ships and U.S. troops fighting back and forth for 13 hours straight. During this time, Francis Scott Key wrote the "Star Spangled Banner".
At the Battle of New Orleans, 2 weeks after the Treaty of Ghent, a new battle starts, British against U.S militia, this battle was a bloody battle and at the end Andrew Jackson was now known as a War Hero.
The effects after the war were a increase in industry and also a sweep in nationalism in the United States. Smaller effects are the Federalist Party was destroyed and no more natives in the Ohio River Valley
