Storyboard Text

  • Welcome to my kingdom . I rule in a Theocracy.
  • Whats a Theocracy?
  • Well a Theocracy is a form of government where the law we follow is our religious text.
  • So basically there is no separation between the government and the religion?
  • A theocracy is a form of government where the government and laws are based off religion. There is no separation between the government and the religion.
  • correct! The Law is made by a group of religious leaders based on the religious teachings
  • One advantage of this form of government is the religious beliefs of thew citizens don,t conflict with the law. This means that laws don,t have to be argued over because the are already stated in the religious text.
  • So the laws don't change, and have always been the same?
  • The laws are based off things that you believe so it strengthens your religion because the laws never ask, or require you to do things that go against your moral compass, or things you don't believe in
  • Pretty Much !
  • One disadvantage is if you live in a country that has a theocracy you may not agree with the laws that are being made, because they may go against your own religion.
  • Another disadvantage is Laws can not be changed to contradict religious beliefs. for example if there is a law that was made a long time ago and is no longer appropriate in modern day society it cannot be changed.
  • There are not many examples of theocracies today because many people dont stay in their religious homeland, and move all around the world. one example of a theocracy today is Iran.
