  • 1928 The roaring 20’s began to finish when companies were overproducing. People had been buying so much product and the prices kept increasing until no one would buy anymore and there was too much stock left. This was a factor which started the Great Depression in the years to come.
  • 1929 The Great Depression had started. People were losing their jobs because companies couldn’t afford to pay them anymore. People lost all their money so couldn’t afford to buy products anymore meaning the company had to fire more people. It was a downward spiral. Gilbert lost his job when his company started this spiral. Gilbert and his son were in strife.
  • 1932 No one was listening when the adults protested for jobs, no one cared because so many needed jobs and they couldn’t take anyone. People started sending their kids out on the street to protest for their Dad’s jobs. Gilbert's son was one of them. The companies started to feel bad because they were impacting these little children. Some men were able to find jobs through this, sadly Gilbert couldn’t though.
