  • Japanese Colinization/Imperialism
  • U.S. Steel and Oil Embargo on Japan
  • Pearl Harbor Surprise Attack
  • Due to lack of natural resources, Japanese forces attacked China and other countries.
  • USS Arizona Sinks
  • SS Arizona
  • The United States was Japan's main supplier of natural resources. Because of this-and the Japanese recent invasions- President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered a steel and oil embargo on the Japanese.
  • "Day that lives in infamy"
  • On December 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. They sunk and/or damaged over 10 US Battleships including the USS Oklahoma, USS Arizona, and many more.
  • Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima
  • One of the most famous ships that was sunk is the USS Arizona. Most people on board died. Today, it s still underwater as a Pearl Harbor memorial.
  • The day after Pearl Harbor, December 8th, President Franklin D. Roosevelt addreesed America and asked Congress to declare war on Japan and the other Axis-Powers
  • After President FDR died, President Harry S. Truman ordered a nuclear attack on Hiroshima. After Japan still didn't surrender, they dropped another on Nagasaki.
