In the beginning of Fahrenheit 451 Montag is just an average joe, he works as a fireman burning books for a living. One day we walks home from work an meets his new neighbor Clariesse.
By now Montag is aware that Clariesse is different then most people, but what she said never really impacted him, until she asked if he was happy. Montag didn't think of it as much at first, but then he started thinking about it and realized that he wasn't really happy.
Are you happy?
What??? Of course I am.
Now Montag is on the job and him and his captain Beatty are called to a house to burn books, after the owner of the books burns with them he thinks why are books worth dying for. Before they leave he does something illegal, he takes a book without anyone knowing.
Montag is now curious about the knowledge in books after he read the book he took from the lady that died. He seeks a man named Faber that has a good understanding of books. There with faber he learns a lot about books from him and his mind is opened.
Teach me!! I want to LEARN
When Montag goes back to work he immediately gets a call to a house with Beatty again. When he gets there he realizes its his house. He then gets filled with anger and burn his house down as well as kills Beatty.
Montag is now on the run for the murder of Beatty, he was told by Faber to go to the river and find an old abandoned railway track. Faber said it will lead him to other people like him who seek the knowledge of books.
