Storyboard Text

  • "Scrooge was his sole friend and even he was not so dreadfully cut up by the sad event but that he was and excellent man of business".
  • Indirect Characterization
  • This qoute from the narrator indirectly characterizes Scrooge as a cold hearted man. This quote is saying that Scrooge does not care that the man is dead but he only feels bad because he was a good man of buisness.
  • "I wear the chain i forged in life... My mankind was business... no rest no peace. incessant torture of remorse".
  • When Marley says mankind was his business he is most likely greedy. He wears the chain forged in life so if he was greedy he probably has to carry around a lot of chains. because he was greedy he is now tortured therefore the theme is the consequence of greed.
  • "beware of this boy ignorance, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing are erased. Deny it!"
  • Back in mideaval Europe whenever they had a problem they stored it away. For expel people who were not smart were poor and then put in prisons so Europe would not have to deal with them. This quote shows symbolism because the spirit stores the boy ignorance away in his pocket.
  • Symbolism
  • "Spirit! Are they yours."
  • "A solitary child, neglected by his friends, is left their still."
  • This shows an internal conflict because Scrooge internal struggles to see himself neglected and now feels bad for the way he treated the carolers and begins to sob
  • Internal Conflict
  • Scrooge said he knew it and sobbed.
  • "Every Idiot who goes about a Merry Christmas on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding."
  • This is an example of indirect characterization because it is saying that Scrooge has no Christmas spirit and is also rude and mean because he doesn't care that his nephew is sad.
  • Indirect Characterization
  • Merry Christmas Uncle!
  • One theme throughout the story was the affect of kindness. Because Scrooge was so kind to the boy he then felt happy and it made him feel good
  • Theme
  • What a delightful boy! it's a pleasure to talk to him
