Volcanoes gave off Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Water Vapour into the Earths atmosphere.
The Earths cooled therefore creating the oceans.
Tiny bacteria like organisms began to evolve in the oceans and photosynthesize creating oxygen.
Animals evolved in the ocean and on land to breathe oxygen. That over time rose. As nobody was there nobody really knows what they looked like.
Dead organisms fell to the bottom of the oceans and were buried underneath layers upon layers of sedimentary rocks which over time form fossils.
Todays atmosphere is made up of: 78% Nitrogen 21% Oxygen 0.9% Argon 0.04% Carbon Dioxide And traces of other gases.
