Storyboard Text

  • Hey Mom, I don't want to grow up.
  • Huh! What do you mean? Yes being a kid is great, but growing up and becoming an adult is a life-changing experience.
  • It is?
  • Yeah! I read this book once called Breaking Stalin's Nose. It's about a young boy, like yourself, who lived in the Soviet Union. He was living the life that was expected of him but eventually learned the significance of living the life he wants. The most significant message I learned from this book was that No matter how old a person is, one is always observing and trying to understand life on earth and their own purpose. But this is just one type of coming-of-age book. There are many more that are so important for a kid just like you!
  • Many things. Like you can learn about yourself through the main character's journey. You can also learn about your own and different societies and how it affects citizens which can give you different perspectives on certain topics
  • Coming-of-age? What's significant about that?
  • And as a student like yourself, they can cause you to self reflect and change your perspective on your life and others. This is important to help you grow up to be a good person
  • Wow! That sounds amazing!
  • That's great to hear son
  • I haven't even read one yet, but I see how coming-of-age books are significant in the development of kids like me and even adults like you Mom.
