In chapter 1, Moshie the Beadle tells Elie about the traumatic experience he went through while he left with the soldiers. Elie stated "he told me what had happened to him and his companions...they were forced to dig huge trenches. The men shot their prisoners." (Weisel 6)
In chapter 1, Elie began to describe how they jews were being treated. He says "every jew had to wear the yellow star" (Weisel 11).
In chapter 2, Elies family and other peope in the community ride the train to Auschwitz. While on the train, Ms.Schächter begins to scream and cry "fire! I see a fire! I see a fire!", Elie adds "she was howling and pionting through the window" (Weisel 25).

In chapter 2, as Elie arrived to Auschwitz, he noticed how every one was wearing the same thing, he announced "strange-looking creatures,dressed in striped jackets and black pants" (Weisel 28)
In chapter 3, as the people began to load off the train, a SS soldier forced people into two rows. He shouted "men to the left, women tot he left." (Wiesel 29)
In chapter 3, Elie and his father arrived to Auschwitz. Elie sees a sign that mentions " WORK MAKES YOU FREE" (Wiesel 41)
