Into The WIld

Storyboard Text

  • In the year of 1990, a student named Chris McCandless graduated from Emory University in Atlanta. He was a very minimalist person who enjoyed to the presence of nature. "...had distinguished himself as a history and anthropology major with a 3.72 grade point average." (Krakauer 1)
  • In his senior year of high school, Chris bought himself a second hand yellow Datsun. Being fond the outdoors, whenever classes were not in session, he would go out alone on road trips. "In the years since, he'd been in the habit of taking it on extended solo trips when classes weren't in session..." (Krakauer 1)
  • When Chris graduated from Emory University, he told his parents he would be taking another roadtrip but told them, "I think im going to disappear for a while." He mailed his parents his final transscript and gave his best friend his picture. Naturally, his parents got concerned and they went to check where he lived which was off-campus. "Chris had lived off campus in a monkish room furnished with little more than a thin mattress on the floor, milk crates, and a table." (Krakauer 2) Chris had moved out by then.
  • When Walt and Billie (Chris' parents) went to look for him in his off-campus room, the room had a big FOR RENT, on it, and the manager said Chirs had moved out at the end of June. Where did Chris go? He went on a journey in which would change it all. "Five weeks earlier, he'd loaded all his belongings into his little car and headed west without an itinerary." (Krakauer 2)
  • 2 days into his marvelous odyssey, water rained down on him. The water caught up to his car and killed his battery. As much as he tried reviving it, it wouldn't budge. The only thing he had left to do was to rid himself of excess unneeded material, and so he gracefully did. "He could simply abandon the Datsun and resume his odyssey on foot. And that's what he decided to do." (Krakauer 3)
  • When he decided to abandon his car, he saw this as a chance to rid himself of any unnecessary luggage. Chris, who gave himself the identity of Alexander Supertramp, hid his license plate, buried his rifle, and discarded other possessions. "One hundred twenty-three dollars in legal tender was promptly reduced to ash and smoke." (Krakauer 4)
