Storyboard Text

  • Two grievances are...
  • We will now start with the Preamble. It is necessary for us, the thirteen colonies, to be able to break away from Great Britain's control.
  • This basically explains to King George that the colonies are breaking away.
  • What are the three unalienable rights?
  • The unalienable rights are rights that cannot be taken away.
  • The three unalienable rights are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
  • John Adams played a leading role in persuading Congress to declare independence.
  • The two other natural rights are all men are created equal and the people give their government power, and if the government abuses that power the people can overthrow that the government.
  • Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence.
  • Why did you choose those two?
  • For imposing taxes on us with out our Consent.
  • For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world.
  • I chose them because they are saying that we do not have any freedom and no say in anything. The British are treating us like animals!
  • (Declaration of Independence) John Adams- August 2, 1776 Thomas Jefferson - August 2, 1776
