Storyboard Text

  • We should have some good hunting up the Amazon. Great spot for hunting."
  • "The best sport in the world"
  • "This weather is making you soft, Whitney. Be a realist. The world is made up of two classes-the hunters and the huntees. Luckily, you and I are the hunters."
  • "Don't talk rot, Whitney," Your a big-game hunter, not a philosopher, who cares how a jaguar feels?"
  • I have survived many near-death experiences fighting on the frontlines during World War I so I can survive this.
  • Rainsford is a typical macho man. He is a daring big-game hunter who is about to face the challenge of being the “hunted” not the “hunter”.
  • "I have played the fox, now I must play the cat of the fable."
  • Whitney is too sympathetic and overthinks things. On the other hand, Rainsford is a realist. He doesn't care if animals experience fear, because hunting is a sport for his own enjoyment.
  • I must keep my nerve The general is teasing me! The general is the cat and I am the mouse.
  • Surviving the hunt is the external conflict-man vs. man. Rains ford's internal dialogue is an internal conflict-man vs. self.
  • I guess I am the cat after all! What a great nights sleep I had....
  • Rainsford is experiencing fear (internal conflict). His frame of mind has temporarily changed as he is having empathy for the animals he has hunted in the past.
  • Rainsford is terrified. He comprehends that the hunting of men is a cruel game. Men are able to feel fear and animals are not. The general is a skilled hunter and may win the game.
  • Rainsford’s ability to sleep so well, after killing a human, implies that he has not been transformed by this terrifying experience. Rainsford has become more heartless from his experience. Sleeping in the general’s bed could mean that he is going to take over Zaroff’s role.
