  • Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch.
  • Act 3 Scene 2
  • O Tybalt, Tybalt, the best friend I had!
  • In the city of Verona.
  • Act 3 Scene 3
  • What less than doomsday is the Prince's doom?
  • In Act 3 Scene 1, Tybalt challenges Romeo to fight. When Mercutio accepts the challenge to fight Tybalt for Romeo, Mercutio is killed. Romeo then avenges Mercutio's death by killing Tybalt, which results in Romeo being banished.
  • Act 3 Scene 4
  • Monday, ha ha! Wednesday is too soon. O' Thursday let it be.
  • In Act 3 Scene 2, Juliet longs for Romeo to come to her. The Nurse enters with the news of the fight between Romeo and Tybalt. However, the nurse makes it sound as if Romeo was killed in the fight.
  • Act 3 Scene 5
  • Now, by Saint Peter's Church, and Peter too, he shall not make me there a joyful bride!
  • Friar Lawrence tells Romeo his punishment for killing Tybalt is banishment, not death. However, Romeo isn't very optimistic about his punishment and considers suicide. Friar Lawrence allows Romeo to spend the night with Juliet and leave for exile in the morning.
  • Paris asks Capulet once again for his permission to marry Juliet. This time, Capulet says Juliet will do as she is told. He tells Paris that they will marry in three days.
  • Once Romeo leaves Juliet, Lady Capulet comes with the news that Juliet is to marry Paris. Juliet refuses which infuriates her father. The nurse suggests to Juliet that she should just take Paris as her husband.
