  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • 1934 in Copenhagen, Denmark during World War II. Annemarie, Ellen, and Kirsti are on their way home from school. Nazi's stand on each street corner, and occupy Denmark until the war ends.
  • Climax
  • The Germans want to take over Denmark, and the Rosens are in danger because they are Jewish. The Nazi's are capturing Jews and "relocating" them. The Jews plan to come at night for the Jews, so Ellen is staying with the Johansens, and her parents will go with Peter to a safe hiding place.
  • Falling Action
  • Everyone is at Uncle Henrik's house to have a fake funeral. They are planning to take the Jew's to the Ingeborg, Uncle Henrik's boat. From there they will take them to Sweden to be safe.
  • Resolution
  • Annemarie is running through the woods to take a basket to Uncle Henrik. Inside the basket is a packet that he needs to get the Jews over to Sweden safely. She gets stopped by soldiers, they eat her food, then let her go.
  • The packet was successfully delivered, and so were the Jews. Inside the packet was a handkerchief that numbed the dogs sense of smell,so they couldn't smell people. So the Jews weren't found.
  • The war is finally over and Denmark is free. Peter had been captured and killed, and the Johansens are waiting for the Rosens return. Many people were killed.
