Hey. Do you know what our assignment is?
What?! I didn’t hear it!
Of course you didn’t hear it, silly. Because our professor posted in our group.
Oh. So, What is it?
It says there, that, write or say something about a short biography of a scientist who won a Nobel Prize award in the field of Physics. Do you know?
About our assignment.
Okay let’s try this. Did you know that J.J. Thomson was a Nobel Prize winning physicist whose research led to the discovery of electrons? Thomson showed that cathode rays were composed of a previously unknown negatively charged particle, and thus he is credited with the discovery and identification of the electron.
And he was awarded a Nobel Prize in 1906, "in recognition of the great merits of his theoretical and experimental investigations on the conduction of electricity by gases." He was knighted in 1908 and appointed to the Order of Merit in 1912. In 1914 he gave the Romanes Lecture in Oxford on "The atomic theory". In 1918 he became Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, where he remained until his death. So, are you okay now?
Yeah. Thanks to you. It means a lot to me.
