  • After passing the Tea Act in 1773, Parliament was struck with resilience by the colonists who saw this as a threat to colonial merchants. 
  • Tea Act We hereby grant full ownership to the British East India Company, to sell tea to the colonies.  
  • This will show Britian that we won't stand for ther taxes!
  • On the night of December 16 1773 , men dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded British ships, and dumped 90,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor.  This came to be known as The Boston Tea Party. 
  • After the Tea Party, the British shut down the harbor. It would only open until all the tea was paid for. This was stated as one of the 1774 Intolerable acts, only fueling the anger between the colonists and the British. 
  • This is an outrage, this is intollerable!!!
  • This harbor is off limits

  • On June 11 1776 a committee of five men were appointed by congress to create a declaration

  • The declaration of independence was formally written on July 2nd 1776. This document was used to declare the rights of the people and formally rid themselves of Britain.  
  • The declaration of independence was a huge step for democracy in America. It not only sparked patriotism for the colonists but all around the world. This was a very large event that lead to the American Revolution.
