" I remembered the sound of the party as it grew fainter as I entered the hidden space, the lights of the ballroom just barely visible" (118).
" The gift of a hand mirror, typically with an oval face and unadorned wooden frame, reminded a maiden of humility. But, Tahlia's gift was ornate and small, silver edges dotted with red gems" (137).

Flashback Everytime Aislynn's curse appeared she had to run off. She remembered the one time she was at the big introduction ball and had to leave.
Symbolism Aislynn's symbol is a hand mirror because of how she shouldn't have to see the curse on the outside, what's true is on the inside and that's all that matters. The mirror is given at the introductin ball to remind the maiden of humility, but that didn't effect Aislynn.
