Some of the the convicts would be executed.
Some os the convicts would be sentenced to exile, and would be shipped to another country.
In later years convicts went to prison, and at first the prisons were crowded and full of disease. In the prisons there was no division of men, women, children, or insane.
Some convicts were held on old Naval ships used as gaols, they were called Hulks.
On the Hulks the convicts were chained to the bunk beds at night to ensure that that couldn't escape to the shore.
