Fitting in with others is really hard when you're the new kid at school, especially when you're an orphan.

Storyboard Text

  • Minji is an orphan from South Korea who was adopted from these two  loving white parents.  
  • She traveled all the way from South Korea to New York City to meet her new parents at the airport.
  • Her parents live in New York City. Minji does not know how to speak english that well and has to figure out a way to fit in the american culture.
  • It was the first day of school, and there were only white kids.
  • Everyone seemed to have friends already.
  • Minji couldn't understand what the teacher was saying.
  • Zzz..
  • We are going to have a math quiz this Friday about multiplication!
  • ?
  • So school became very boring and Minji was lonely all the time.
  • Until one day her classmate, Suzie, talked to her...
  • (In korean) Hi!
  • Minji soon learned that Suzie's mom was korean and her dad was american. Suzie told her that she speaks korean at home.
  • They soon became best friends and Suzie started to translate the teacher's words for Minji. 
  • School never became boring again.
