Storyboard Text

  •  Solomon Northup is a free man living in Saratoga Springs, New York with his family.
  • Children! come and see what your father has just bought me!
  • PARKER
  • He went out of the city to make negotiations to earn money with Circus entertainers, but they drugged him.
  • Gentlemen,  your generosity is extraordinary.
  • We will be able to sell him...
  • You aren't a free man. And you aren't from Saratoga. You are from Georgia, and You aren't a free man. You are nothing more but a fugitive from Georgia. Just a black fugitive from Georgia.
  • He wakes up chained in a cell since he was apparently kidnapped by slave catchers who lied to him.
  • Solomon is told to keep his identity secret to survive, so he is now named Platt.
  • Days ago, I was with my family, in my home. Now, you tell me all is lost? Tell no one who I am? That is the way to survive? Well, I don’t want to survive. I want to live.
  • He begs Master Bass to write to his friends from the North so that they can send his liberty papers telling them his situation.
  • I will write your letter, sir. If it brings you your freedom, it will be more than a pleasure. It will be my duty.
  • After 12 years suffering being a slave, Solomon Northup is free and able to see his family.
  • There is nothing to forgive...
  • Forgive me...
