  • Samuel Adams wanted to help start a group called sons of liberty. They would protest the stamp act and burn effigies.
  • delegates from nine colonies went to New York at the Stamp Act Congress, and sent a statement to the king and the parliament. They demanded a new law that only the colonists assemblies could tax them.
  • The colonists are angered at the British and wanted the taxes lowered so they can actually afford stuff. They decided to boycott and not buy anything from the British until they lowered taxes.
  • The boycott was going on for too long that the British lost so much money they decided to repeal, or stop the stamp act completely.
  • In March 1766, Parliament repealed the law. It also passed the Declecetory act, stating it had the right to tax and make decisions for the British Colonies.
