Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
When Helen was one year and six months old, she got a high fever. When she was better, she lost her sight and her hearing.
When she was little, she was very mischievous.
Helen was very unhappy. Then, in 1887, she met Anne Sullivan, a teacher.
Anne taught Helen how to speak by spelling words with her fingers on Helen's hands. She also taught her to read Braille.
Helen Keller wrote many books. Helen also visited hurt soldiers that had lost their hearing and sight. Helen died June 1st, 1968.
