  • When and where was the Aztec Civilization?
  • Floating Gardens
  • Aquaducts
  • The Aztecs lived on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco, which is present day Mexico, and were around during the 12th century.
  • Universal Education
  • The Aztecs invented floating gardens, also known as chinampas, to grow a lot of their food.
  • Herbalism
  • The aquaducts were two pipes that were located close to fresh water. One pipe brought the fresh water in, and the other one took the dirty water out.
  • Jaguar Warriors
  • The Aztecs were the ones who created formal education. When the children were younger, they would be taught by their parents, but from the ages of 12-15, everyone was required to attend school. From the ages of 15-20, boys were trained for the military.
  • The Aztecs were amazing at many things, but as well as everything else they did, they practiced healing people and things with herbs and plants. In fact, they used over 180 different plants and trees to treat things.
  • The Jaguar Warriors were an elite unit of the Aztec military and were kind of like the Eagle Warriors. They were often used to capture prisoners for sacrifice.
