Storyboard Text

  • In New York in 1920 a man named Jay Gatsby lived in West Egg. West Egg was where all the newly rich people lived. All the old money lived in East Egg. East and West Egg were separated by a poor town nicknamed the Valley of Ashes. Nick Carraway lived next to Gatsby in a much smaller house.
  • Mr. Gatsby always threw parties in hopes that one day his old love Daisy, who lives with her husband Tom and their daughter in East Egg, would one day wander in and fall in love with him again just like when they were younger. Gatsby's next door neighbor, Nick, happens to be Daisy's cousin.
  • Some nights Gatsby would go out on his dock and look across the bay and he would look at Daisy's dock. He knew Daisy's dock had a green light at the end and he would reach out as if he could somehow touch it. Gatsby would think about all the time they've been spending together recently. He would say, "I fired all my servants and hired new ones who won't gossip. Daisy has started coming around often in the afternoons."
