  • The Punic Wars were a series of three wars that were all fought against the wealthy city of Carthage. The Romans lost the first two wars, but finally defeated Carthage in the third and final war.
  • Caesar's Civil War was a war in which Caesar and his legions fought against Pompey and his legions. After four years, Caesar defeated Pompey and became the Dictator of Rome.
  • The Roman alphabet was based off of the Greek's and Etruscan's alphabet. The Roman alphabet is what the modern day alphabet is based off of. Modern capital letters are even similar!
  • Roman leaders realized that poor people with nothing to do could threaten their power, they created mass entertainement. They held gladiator contests, chariot races, and atheltic competitions. Today, we have mass entertainment in the form of movies, arcades, and more.
  • Romans made many tools to help agriculture, such as crop rotation, manuering, and seed selection, all of whichi are used today.
  • The Romans spoke Latin, which is the basis of multiple modern-age languages, such as French, Spanish, Italian and Portugese. Latin roots are the base of many English words,
